Cottage furniture stays inside. Bring chairs for the yard and campfire.

Rods, tackle, and your fishing license. Bait and ice available at the office.

No fancy attire needed. This is a fishing vacation.

You'll be outside on the water and around the campfire. Come prepared.

Bring coolers to keep your catch and your drinks cold.

Policies & Info

Check-in is 1:00 PM. Check-out is 10:00 AM. Please tidy up, wash dishes, and remove trash before leaving.
$200 deposit for a weekly stay, $100 for a weekend. A 15% fee is assessed on any refund. No deposit refunds after April 1st. You can pay $50 before departure to guarantee your spot for next year (non-refundable).
Quiet hours 11 PM to 7 AM. 5 MPH speed limit on all roads. No firearms or fireworks. Clean fish only in the fish cleaning building. No campfires on the grass; use the fire rings. No laundry clotheslines. Gas cans must be stored in your boat or vehicle, not under decks. Wash cars and boats at the Fish Processing Building only (lake water tap). No burning of cans, bottles, plastics, or Styrofoam.
Dock safety: small children and non-swimmers must wear personal flotation devices on the docks, and should never be left unattended near the water. Beach notice: we are not a NYS Health Department approved bathing facility, and the beach is not inspected. Please report any accidents or maintenance concerns to the front office immediately. Parents are responsible for the conduct of their children at all times.
$10/night or $50/week per pet (max 2). Must be leashed and in your attendance at all times, with a current rabies vaccination certificate. Scoopers are available at the fish cleaning station, and you are responsible for cleaning up after your pet and for any damages. No pets on furniture or beds; bring a dog bed. Aggressive or excessively barking dogs are a problem, so please don't let your pet ruin your vacation. The McLear's own Labs roam free; they live here and are friendly, so please don't feed them.
Guest registration and full payment are due on arrival. We accept cash, check, and credit cards. Credit card payments are subject to a 3.99% processing fee.
Open for breakfast in 2026. Stop by the office/diner before you hit the lake.
About 25 minutes to the 1000 Islands region and Alexandria Bay: tour boats, shopping, dining, and the famous Boldt Castle. Close by you'll also find other lakes, go-kart racing, mini golf, petting zoos, golf courses, tennis, public beaches, and white water rafting on the Black River. A bit further: the Frederic Remington Art Museum, the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, and the Watertown shopping mall. Around 40 to 55 minutes: Fort Drum, the Eisenhower Locks and Seaway Project in Massena, and the Mohawk Casino.
